VERY RARE ANTIQUE TEDDY BEAR CLOCK – 1930s /1940s SMITHS MANTLE CLOCK – WORKING.Here we have a hard to find antique mantle clock, made in England by the popular clock maker “Smiths” during the 1930s and 40s. The clock is in lovely original condition, showing a typical image of an antique teddy bear marching with a drum. The only other one of these I have seen is featured in the Pam Hebbs “Collecting Teddy Bears” book, stated as being the author’s shop clock (see photos) and the clock in the book has a faded face – this one is still clear and bright. The clock is, I believe, called an automata type, fully automated, and when wound the teddy’s head nods up and down. This is a superb item, quite a rarity, that will make a lovely new addition to someone’s vintage teddy bear collection or a nice Christmas present for a loved one.
