1940’s Chiltern Hugmee gold mohair teddy bear.

This charming character bear was made by Chiltern in the late 1940’s early 1950’s
and is in loved condition but with bundles of charm as you can see from the photos.
He stands at 15″ tall, is completely stuffed with wood wool and is five ways jointed
with all his joints working well so he can be nicely posed. He has a fair coverage of
his gold mohair with overall thinning and some large bare patches and I would
estimate he has retained about 35% coverage overall. A previous young owner has
also decorated him with red felt tip or paint and he has two splodges on his legs and
another under his chin which I think is quite endearing and rather suits him.
There are a couple of small areas of damage including one of his original glass eyes
having broken in half and a tear in the wrist of one of his rexine paw pads which could
do with a few repair stitches. He also has a small hole in the backing fabric on one
shoulder and a non working press growler in his tummy but he is otherwise a sturdy
little bear with lots of character and a very expressive face that would make
a nice companion to any hug of bears.
