1930’s Chad Valley mohair teddy bear with celluloid button
and his very rare original labelled box and tissue paper

This charming character bear was made by Chad Valley circa 1930’s and is
very unusual in that he comes with his original Chad Valley box which has a
chad valley label and some of the original tissue paper.
Ted stands at 13″ tall and is five ways jointed with all his joints working well
so he can be nicely posed and he is stuffed with kapok in his body and head
with just a little wood wool in his snout. He has some overall thinning to his pale
gold mohair and he has a large bare patch on his tummy but I would estimate
he has approximately 60% coverage overall and it is very soft and clean.
Most of his original features are intact, including his amber and black glass
eyes and a Chad Valley Hygenic Toys celluloid button in his right ear. He has
had a little work done in the past which includes having all four of his pads
recovered in brown velvet and it is possible his nose may have been restitched
too although I am not absolutely sure! He will also travel to his new owner in his
vintage stripy cotton pyjama top which he was wearing when he came to me.
The Chad Valley box is in good sturdy condition with just one small tear in the lid
but no other damage and it has the orginal label which also has some writing in
pencil which reads ‘5C GOLD BEAR 1 ONLY’ and the price? ‘4/6’.
