This is something of a curiosity. I think some magazine, during the war years, must have published a pattern for making teddy bears out of old blankets, because I’ve come across a few of these on my travels: a very engaging ‘blanket’ bear who, truth to tell, looks a bit more like a lamb than a bear. The first pictures are closer to the true colour – quite a pale beige, in smooth wool.
He is 17 inches tall, well stuffed, well stitched, with a blanket body and a nice face, with very large ears. He has wide set glass eyes and once had a stitched nose, most of which he has lost, although his mouth is still intact. His paws are in brown felt with no claws. His joints are very loose – too loose really – so he can only sit down rather than stand up. But it doesn’t seem to bother him. He has been sitting with one of the other bears I am listing this week for some ten years, so I’d be happy to sell them together. I have a collection of bears, but although I intend to keep the oldest members of my bear family as well as one or two donated by close friends, all much loved, I have to rehome three or four of my newer acquisitions. Check my other listings this week. They are all quite well stuffed bears and consequently heavy. If you want to bid on more than one, I can post them together within the UK, but they will have to be shipped separately overseas.
