Meet Eddy, Norman and Walnut, 3 lovely old bear buddies who are, I think, all from the 1930s-40s. Eddy is a Chad Valley bear who is about 13 1/2 tall. Hes been in the wars a bit and I had to put big felt patches across the tops of his legs to keep him together (always meant to go back and do it all properly, but will leave that to someone else now!) so his legs are no longer jointed, but he will still sit down. His arms are jointed, as is his neck, but they are very stiff and dont really move well. His foot pads are original – looks like theyre rexine but most the wax layer has pretty much gone, leaving just thin brown fabric. One of his upper paw pads has been replaced with a felt one. Nose and mouth stitching are all original and I think his dark amber glass eyes might be, too. Head, parts of his arms and upper body are all stuffed with wood wool, his middle section is soft (with new stuffing) and his feet are firmer again, so probably wood wool. He has quite a bit of his mohair remaining, but lots of bald patches, too. Norman is a sweet little 11 bear. Im not sure of his maker, but Id put him around the 1930s and he probably from an English maker. He is fully jointed and all are moving. Hes fairly firmly stuffed throughout, but it feels more like kapok than wood wool, and you can certainly see a kapok-type stuffing through the worn areas on his face (see pics). He has very little of his mohair remaining. His original nose stitching is there, but looks like its been over-sewn with newer thread and his mouth stitching looks newer, too. His amber glass eyes are a little bit scratched and look like theyre original. His paw pads have all been replaced with brown felt. Walnut is a Merrythought bear and he has a wishbone button on his back, beneath his arm. He is 12 tall and fully jointed, with all moving well. His paw pads have been replaced with brown felt. He has a tiny bit of his nose stitching remaining, but I dont think his amber glass eyes are original. He has a non-working squeaker in his tummy. He has a bit of his golden mohair remaining (mostly on his legs) but he is mostly bald. He is quite firmly stuffed – feels like kapok rather than wood wool. His back seam has been re-stitched at some point, with dark red wool. Altogether, 3 lovely old bear pals who are looking for a new home together.Really sorry, will only post within the UK – no international postage.
