Here’s Melba, a beautiful and original Merrythought teddy, with wishbone earbutton and embroidered footlabel c.1930s. She’s 38 cms (15″) tall, and has a full set of signature webbed paw claws, plus luscious peachy mohair, faded in places but still plentiful.
Her eyes are made of amber glass eyes, and she has a brown-stitched nose and mouth. Her felt pads are in very good condition, apart from one foot where there’s a few holes. Stuffed completely with kapok, Melba’s joints work fine, but her squeaker has packed up.
She’s kept virtually all of her luxurious curly mohair, which is still quite a good peachy-apricot colour around her joints and at the back. This adorable character is wearing her wonderful handknitted cardi and vintage embroidered dress, accessorised with a cute hand-made felt bag. Thanks for looking x
