This gorgeous BIG antique Farnell teddy bear is in lovely, virtually original condition.  He has glass eyes – which were painted on the backs, but the paint is now chipped/flaked, and he also has all the typical characteristics of wonderful, early Farnell teddy bears. These include; a pronounced clipped snout with brown stitched nose and mouth, a slight hump to to his back, big card lined felt feet pads, web claws stitching, and best of all, most of his exceptionally top quality golden mohair.

I have provided further details in the written condition report, so please take time to read this, and also to view all of the photographs which will be the most helpful part of the description and condition report.
Antique Farnell teddy bears as fine and beautiful and as this rare old boy do not often appear for sale  In fact this particular teddy bear is a bit of a celebrity because he is featured in the introduction of Farnell Teddy Bears by Kathy Martin. I have shown a picture of him as he appears in the book – for information and reference.  I believe he also appears in a Judith Miller Teddy Bear book but I do not have further reference to this.

Large Antique Steiff teddy bears from the early 1900s and early 1920’s are quite rightly highly sought after and are prized by collectors, BUT top quality early Farnell teddy bears as exceptional as this dear old bear, are also hard to find, so I am proud to be offering him for sale on eBay.

About fifteen years ago I helped Merrythought clean and restore some of their (then) private collection of antique teddy bears. The collection included a Farnell not too dissimilar to this beautiful bear, and until now, I have not seen, or handled another one quite as special.

So, with his rarity and wonderful condition in mind, I have set a price which I believe is competitive, and I thank potential buyers for their interest (and offers), but please be advised that only realistic offers can be considered.

FREE postage is applicable to mainland UK  addresses only and due to his size and weight will be charged at 35 to any international destination. Please note that shipping method will be with insurance cover and tracked and/or signed for service. Thank you.
