Rare 1920s Bing Teddy Bear – Mr Hardwick
Mr Hardwick is averycute, all original German Bing teddy bear. I believe he dates to around 1920. Hes in generally excellent condition.
He’s only a fairly small teddy and stands around 33cm tall. He is fully jointed (theyre all nice & firm) and hes stuffed with woodwool. All his pads are original felt, and generally in good condition apart from one paw where the woodwool is showing through.
His eyes are large, clear glass, with brown painted backs and give his a stunning look – I love the expressions that Bing bears have! He has the pronounced muzzle of early Bings, large cupped ears, and very long slender arms. He also had a wonderful big hump on his back and the rear leg seams that help identify him. Hes also managed to retain all his original stitching, (horizontal nose, mouth and all claws) which is amazing for a teddy around 100 years old – even his squeaker still works (although it is a big bulgy in his tummy)!!
His short-pile golden-blonde mohair is very soft and clean, and his fur coverage is extremely good, with just one or two very small balding patches.
All in all, Mr Hardwick is a cracking example of a Bing teddy bear and would be the star attraction in most hugs.
