Mr Newbold (Jacob) ~ RARE Original 1900’s Teddy Bear- Centre Seam / Center Seam- FF Button in ear (knopf im ohr)- Boot Button Eyes- Hump
Please meet Mr Newbold – or Jacob to his pals. He is a completely wonderful Teddy Bear dating to pre c1910. He is a handsome centre seam old mohair bear made by Steiff. He stands around 50cm tall, is fully jointed and fully well stuffed with woodwool.
He does have some wear and some holes as to be expected for a bear who’s over 100 years old; his original felt pads have worn, he has lost mohair to alot of his body, and does have some small holes dotted around, but this is just me being honest in my listing.
He is wonderful! I have actually never come across a bear this age who is so appealing. He has a lovely fluffy face which is incredibly endearing with a beautiful little expression (and would possibly be more fluffy with a gentle clean).
He has a centre seam to his head, original boot button eyes, original nose & mouth stitching and retains lots of his original claws. Jacob has lovely slim ankles, big feet, long arms and a hump! I’ve not wanted to actually really shake him, but he has some kind of voicebox that sounds a little like a spring? He also retains his original steiff FF button in his ear (as photographed).
Jacob comes in his Navy attire, and will look wonderful relaxing in his own chair in his new home, or on a teddy shelf.
I am in awe of beautiful old bears like this, and i look at their face and think of all the thing they must have seen during their life! Jacob is a very special, rare and loving bear who i’ll be sad to see go.
If you’re looking for that extra special antique bear dripping in original features – you will treasure Mr Newbold!!!!
