Meet Jacob a very rare Steiff Apricot Cone nosed bear c1904 measuring approx. 19″ with around 60% of his now faded apricot mohair remaining as you can see from the pictures Jacob has been loved in his long life with numerous old repairs there is an insert to the top of his nose and some darning to the side, he still retains a few of his original stands with the typical felt underlay still intact. paws and pads have repairs I love the dark blue felt on his footpad which is totally original Steiff often double lined footpads with whatever colour felt was available at the time on larger bears of 16″ and above. Jacob is very light with a non working squeaker in his tum. This was the first “Teddy Bear” created by Steiff . The rod bear was the first but was not at all popular with children, it was solidly stuffed with quite hard features which scared some children. Then came the new light and cuddly version which was very popular. Jacob no longer retains his button which would have been a blank button if you like your bears with tons of character then Jacob is the bear for you.
