Old vintage antique teddy bear. Vintage old bear.Barney is a characterful, old English 18 inch vintage teddy bear who I think dates to the 1950s.He has the look of a Pedigree or Deans teddy bear, but sadly no label .He is soft stuffed throughout probably with kapok and has an old card type squeaker set inside his back. You can still get the occasional grunt out if him, which is lower pitched than the more modern squeakers. Barney is fully jointed with some loosening to his joints, especially his head, which is a bit wobbly. This being said, he holds himself together, like any old English gent !His golden mohair coverage is worn , with balding at his seems and around his squeaker at the back, also some patching to the front of his legs and arms… All commensurate with lots of cuddles over the years.Barney has brown velvet pads in good condition, and his inner ears are made of the same lovely material. He has stitched features including three claws on the top pads, and four claws on the bottom, one of which has come apart on his right bottom paw. Barney’s eyes are wide set, and look to be original amber and black plastic, with some age related wear and tear to both pupils…. all characteristics that are fairly typical of an old bear with a story to tell…Barney does show signs of age and lovewear, and is not intended to be used as a toy as he does not have the safety features associated with modern teddy bears.Please take a look at the photos as a further description.
