Old Vintage Antique Merrythought Button Teddy BearCharlie is a cheeky looking old vintage Merrythought teddy bear who stands at just 12 inches tall. But what he lacks in height, he makes up for in character! He has obviously been well loved and cherished over his years. He proudly bears his Merrythought button in his left ear, which dates him to the 1930s.As noted in the sellers notes he is; Considerably love worn and aged. Has sparse, patchy mohair coverage, threadbare in places .Visible seams and stitch work. Age related marks. Missing some claw stitches. Small split at top of the left ear. Please zoom in and study photos carefully.Charlie has amber and black glass eyes. He has a stitched nose and mouth. His pads are an original velvet or brushed cotton and they do have some age related marks.His head is filled with wood wool, his body is kapok filling. There is the remains of an old squeaker in his tummy.Charlie is jointed five ways with fairly good joint connections for his age. His mohair coverage is sparse, as mentioned , there are fairly good sized bald patches here and there, as may be expected…. There is general thinning all over with visible seams as mentioned. His left ear has a stain above his button and there is a small split to the top ear seam.All this being said Charlie is a classic old bear with bags of character and a long history.Despite his fairly shabby condition he holds himself together well… Like any old English chap.Please study the photos carefully as they form part of the description.Charlie is no longer suitable as a toy, he is a collectors item only.I post Monday – Friday as promptly as possible.
