Circa 1950’s Tara/Erris golden mohair teddy bear.
I am not 100% percent sure of the maker of this 1950’s bear but I think he was probably made by the Irish company Tara. He stands at 16″ tall and is in good condition with all his original features intact including his amber and black plastic safety eyes. He is quite heavy for his size with a firm stuffing which I think might be cotton sub which was waste from the textile industry used after the 2nd world war and ted is five ways jointed with all his limbs turning easily so he can be nicely posed.
Ted has a good coverage of his golden mohair with slight overall thinning and a few bare spots which do not detract from his charm and character and I would estimate he has retained a good 85%+ coverage overall. He is a little bit grubby and could maybe do with a light surface clean to fluff him up but he does not smell bad, just old! His felt pads are very slightly surface worn but otherwise in very good condition with no holes or repairsand his paws are curved so he can hold them up to his face to play peek-a-boo
