This is Malcolm, a dapper old Merrythought bear, fully jointed, with a “Merrythought Hygienic Toys, made in England” label stitched to his left foot pad, dating to the 1930s. He is 18″ tall with painted back glass eyes and a hand stitched nose and mouth, with the dropped outer stitches common to Merrythought bears during this era. He lost an ear many moons ago but never goes anywhere without his trip by so this has never perturbed him too much. He has a non working growler to his tummy, and also the remains of his claw stitching. His right foot and pawpads have a little damage to them, but nothing too major. He still retains 50%/60% of his mohair and he has no holes or rips to his fabric. It is becoming more difficult these days to find old bears with their labels intact, so what he lacks in fur (and ears) he more than makes up for in other ways. He has loads of character, is clean and fresh smelling, and would make an amazing addition to any old bear collection.
