~ Little Hugo – adorable! 1900’s Steiff Teddy Mohair Old Antique Bear in clothes
Aww this is Little Hugo! I love him, I honestly love him. He is a super super cute teddy in all ways – I could go on and on but i’ll describe him below :-) …
He is a Steiff Bear dating to around 1905-10 standing around 24-25cm tall. He is fully jointed and stuffed with woodwool.
He is covered in tufty blonde mohair, retains his original facial stitching and original hand foot claw stitching. I think his feet may have been recovered in felt at some point but honestly it’s hard to tell because I have never seen such a good job done if this is the case.
He retains his original boot button eyes, a little hump which has settled with his woodwool over time, and an adorable working squeaker – it sounds very girlie and mouse like :-)
At some point in his little life one of his previous owners has dressed him up in his own custom made clothes – which are gorgeous. I can only assume it was likely a previous German owner as he is attired in cotton lederhosen, and a knitted cardigan with wooden hat decoration. He doesn’t have his button but he ties in perfectly with the Steiff reference books.
Cleary, he’s been owned by someone who is adored him and I can totally see why!
