Edwin is NOT an antique bear but he IS made by famous antique German bear manufacturer Bing. I didn’t even know that their designs were still being produced, but apparently one of the descendants of the original director of Bing gave the rights for the patterns to be reproduced in very limited numbers with the Bing logo. I cannot seem to find out when this happened but I believe it to be within the last 20 years.
He is a stunning bear, 10″ tall with boot button eyes, a shaved muzzle, hand stitched nose and mouth, long arms and a smakl hump to his back. He has a leather tag stitched to the side if his tummy with the number 51 on it, plus an embroidered tag to his back. He is in immaculate, sweet smelling condition.
I don’t know how many of these limited numbers were made but he is the first I have seen, so I don’t imagine there are many on the market. He would make a lovely, rare addition to any bear collection.
