Mr Holmes: Rare Early Bing Bear – Beautiful Little Old Antique German TeddyMr Holmes is a very cute, German Bing teddy bear. I believe he dates to around 1915.He’s only a small little bear and stands around 22cm tall. He is fully jointed and stuffed with woodwool. All his pads are original felt, and all but one are fairly holey (but intact).He has the typical pronounced muzzle of early Bings, large cupped ears, and very long slender arms.He has long-lost his button but does have two tiny pin-holes on his right arm where it would have once been – it wouldn’t have been placed under his left arm as he is so small that he has a side squeaker in his tummy which would have been in the way (this no longer works).His golden mohair coverage is now very sparse but he retains just enough to not look completely bald. Other than a hole around his left armpit, and another very small one on his right thigh, he’s generally in nice condition. When I bought him I thought his eyes were probably replacements but now I’m not so sure, but I do think that some of his claws and nose stitching may not be original.I think he’s lovely and I purchased him with the intention of keeping him for my private collection, but our recent feline addition is a bit crazy and has started eyeing him up!All in all, Mr Holmes is a charming little bear who would add character to any hug.All offers considered and I always combine postage costs where applicable.
