DISMAL DESMOND – by Dean’s Ragbook Co Ltd.

Dismal Desmond was a character invented by

Dean’s in the 1920’s and became the ‘Toy of the Year’

in 1926 and a household name for appx. 3 years.

The unhappy Dalmatian dog toy was made in

size ranges from 11″ to 15″  initially and the enclosed

cut-out sheet has 2 sizes – medium & large.

The fabric used was Dean’s own ‘Fluffidown’ fabric

and he would have been soft-filled.

The toy became a mascot for various institutions

including Wimbledon ladies and the English cricket

team at that time.

Included in the memorabilia offered is an original

printed sheet, and original shop display card

advertising the price of 2/- and a cut-out display model

all in very good condition.
