Meet Davey, a sweet and loveable little old Merrythought bear, fully jointed, dating to the 1930s. He is 13″ tall with glass eyes a shaved muzzle and a hand stitched nose and mouth, with the typical dropped outer stitches common to Merrythought bears during this era. He is in amazing condition with no wear, and juzt as importantly, no fading to his luxurious, slightly wavy mohair. Even more impressibe is that he has retained his original webbed claw stitching, which is the primary identifier for early Merrythought bears, see pics. He no longer has his foot label but you can clearly see an outline on his right foot where the narrow 1930s Merrythought Hygienic Toys label has been. Early bears in this excerpt condition do not come up very often. What’s more, he happens to have the cherkiest, most adorable face, loads of character. He is clean and fresh smelling, and would make an amazing addition to any old bear collection.
