This loved Merrythought bear was made in the 1930’s and is five ways jointed
and stuffed with kapok in his body and wood wool in his head and although his joints
are a bit loose and his stuffing has broken down slightly at the tops of his arms and
legs, he is still able to support himself comfortably in the sitting position.
Ted is in loved condition with loss to his mohair as you can see from the photos
but all his original features are intact including his amber and black glass eyes and black
cotton nose stitching although his mouth is missing. His cotton pads are grubby but
undamaged apart from a stitched repair on his left wrist and he has a celluloid button
in his right ear and an embroidered Merrythought label on his left foot pad.
He could do with a light surface wash to his remaining mohair to fluff him up a little
but if you like your bears loved and with bundles of character then he is the perfect
bear for you and would make a nice addition to any hug.
