~ Sailor Wally ~ 1900’s STEIFF ff Button ~ Old Antique ~ Teddy Bear in clothes ~

This chappy is Sailor Wally. If you don’t mind Teddies with a little wear, but adore a Teddy who has lived 100 years and has seen so many happy times .. he is the ted for you! He was made in the early 1900’s by the German company Steiff.
He is fully jointed, stuffed completely with woodwool and stands around around 32 centimeters tall. He has cinnamon mohair (his front has gone more blonde, but his joints and back are a lovely cinnamon shade still, as shown in the photographs – photo 8, showing his pads, is the most accurate for his true colour). His pads are in great condition, I’m not entirely sure if they’re are original with double layer, or a super, super, old recovering .. they tie in beautifully however. He retains a lot of his original claws, has had some darning on his body by previous owners, and has the odd hole (as shown in the photographs).
Wally has boot button eyes (love them!), and an inactive growler (that now only rattles), which is rare in smaller bears – I love it as it gives him a sturdier torso. Most importantly Wally proudly retains his ff Steiff button to his ear, and is dressed ready for his happy new home in his vintage sailor outfit and probably original red ribbon.. he’s hoping a lovely maiden will be at his new residence to sweep of their feet ;-) In the Steiff Sortiment reference book, I believe his “Art.-No.” is 5322,2 (meaning that he was manufactured between 1909-1918 – probably more towards the earlier end given his boot button eyes and old features). What I adore about Sailor Wally is to think of all that he has seen in his life, he has somehow lived through 2 world wars, various house moves, and possibly several different families, and yet he is still here today waiting for a new special person to call his own. The photographs form part of the description so please look at them carefully. All offers considered and I always combine postage costs where applicable. Any questions please message me :-)
