VINTAGE TEDDY BEAR, FULLY JOINTED, OPENING MOUTH,15 INCHES,TARA?
I was born in 1950 and my Pembrokeshire Grandmother gave to me when I was born.
I have been told this is possibly a Tara(Irish) LAUGHELLA bear. I think it used to make a noise when mouth was operated. The mouth is controlled by a mechanism at back of head, as seen in photos.One glass bead is missing,as seen.
It is fully jointed and 15 inches tall, as seen.
The teddy has been loved and played with (rather a lot) and needs attention.My Mother removed the glass eyes(!!) as she thought they were dangerous, so they are just black thread/wool now. The paws are original but very worn and not much of the original mohair remains.
This unusual bear could be a lovely addition to a collection, whether or not restored.
