This bear was bought for me on board a german ship travelling home from the East in the early 50’s.
There was an attempt to restore it around twenty years ago when his eyes were replaced but everything else is original. However, the black line down from the nose and depicting his smile looks as if it could have been more recent but I don’t remember it being done. It feels like the body is straw filled and I can feel a growler mechanism but not working. I don’t know what his limbs are filled with.
Please refer to the photos for condition. I hope somebody will give him the TLC he so obviously needs and I’m sure he’d love to be reunited with his head! He measures from head (when attached) to toe 20″
