This vintage teddy bear was made by Chad Valley during the 1930s and unusually is made from a very soft mohair possibly alpaca, in a mixture of reddish brown and fawn material which has general thinning related to his age!!
He measures approximately 10″ and typically is in a sitting position, with a jointed neck and arms. He unfortunately has lost one of his black glass eyes – unsure if the one remaining is original, but still maintains his original black stitched nose (two longer outer stitches) and black stitched mouth. He has the remains of his felt pads and black stitched claws – please see photos for condition.
He is stuffed with a soft kapok stuffing and has a non working squeaker in his tummy.
He also has his original red printed Chad Valley label on the inside of his right leg which reads “Hygenic Toys Made in England by Chad Valley Co Ltd”.
