RARE Bing Tripple Trapple Dog with Leather Collar & Metal Tag c1910. This is Barney, a very rare, wonderful old German Tripple Trapple terrier dog made in Germany by Bing. He dates to around 1910 and stands around 18 centimetres / 7 inches tall.Barney is a real beauty and in fantastic condition with almost no wear to his coat – just a small patch at the top of two legs. In fact, he’s in the best condition of any Tripple Trapple that I’ve ever seen.Tripple Trapple dogs were invented by Bing to give children an animal that could “walk”. After a 100 or so years, his legs are a little stiff but with a bit of pursuasion (and some WD40) I’ve been able to get three moving and it should be possible to loosen up the fourth.Amazingly, having survived both World Wars, Barney still has his original orange glass eyes, leather collar and metal swing tag which is still bright and clear. However, he’s not perfect and does have a couple of areas where he could do with a few stitches to pull his seams back togther. He also has a few stitches in the top of his neck – these may or may not be original (they’re certainly old).As a teddy bear friend, Barney would be lovely and given his rarity and condition he would be the star of most collections.All offers considered and I always combine postage costs where applicable.
