Gorgeous early Merrythought teddy bear, dating from c.1930,
bearing original celluloid button to the left ear with “Merrythought Hygienic Toys” printed on it,
made of gold mohair,
feels to be stuffed with felt throughout the body and head, wood-wool in the muzzle,
fully jointed,
has got original dark amber and black glass eyes,pronounced clipped muzzle,
original vertically stitched nose with nostrils, inverted Y shape mouth stitching,
original felt pads with some repairs, right paw pad is almost completely recovered,
original three claws stitching to feet,four webbed claws stitching to paws is probably replacement,
has got inoperative squeaker in tummy,wears vintage child’s sailor’s dress.
Teddy Bear is approx. 21″ (55 cm) tall.
Condition – item is in antique condition with some general wear, thinning, balding patches, repairs to pads.
