Here’s a rarely seen Steiff Bully dog, with tail-turning mechanism that rotates his head full circle. Only made between 1931-35, Bully sits 20 cms (8″) high, which was one of six sizes made. He no longer retains his earbutton, and shows some wear, including his metal tail which has been completely recovered with white mohair in the past. However, Bully has original back-painted amber glass eyes, and a black-embroidered nose. His open mouth is lined with felt, and his ears a silky fabric showing some wear. This is an old replacement as it would have been peach felt originally, so this means his ears have been re-attached in order for them to be re-lined. Some of Bully’s tigerish black airbrushed stripes are still visible, and he has a full set of claws. He obviously shows some loss of mohair, but he’s nevertheless a lovable and very special character, wearing his wonderful handmade neck ruffle. Thanks for looking.
