This is the second wonderful Steiff Bully dog I’ve listed recently, all original with tiny underscored ‘ff’ earbutton c.1930s. It doesn’t show up too well in his photos, so I’ve taken a close-up of it. Bully has a swivel neck and stands 15 cms (6″) high excluding his big ears.
Stuffed with woodwool, he has back-painted amber glass eyes and a black-embroidered nose, with an airbrushed mouth. Bully’s legs and ears are internally wired, and his muzzle is made of velvet which has lost a little of its nap, but is otherwise in good condition. There’s an old sewn repair to the inside of Bully’s left foreleg (see pic), and both front paws have small repairs where his wires were jutting through.
Overall, though, Bully is a lovely strong dog with a most amazing, expressive face. Although he has some baldness here and there, his black and beige mohair coverage is still good. Bully is wearing his new blue velvet bell collar, and travels with his vintage Steiff cotton-velvet rattle ball. Fetch boy! Thanks for looking.
