Old Vintage Antique Threadbare Chad Valley ? Button Teddy BearBeatrice is a dear old vintage teddy bear who is 15 inches tall. She has obviously been very well loved and cherished over her years, and as such is threadbare and bald.As noted in the sellers notes she is; Considerably love worn , threadbare and aged. Completely bald.Has visible seams and stitch work. Has had numerous repairs over the years. Has age related marks.Beatrice has a metal stud affixed to her side, a nice pointy snout and a hump on her back. I think she is an early Chad Valley . She has amber and black glass eyes,and a stitched nose and mouth. These may have been replaced over her years. I believe she dates to the 1930s or so.Her pads are a soft brown velvet ( one has a hole) and she has five stitched claws on the upper paws and four each on the lower paws.Her entire body seems to be filled with kapok, (except for some of her head, which has some straw filling) with much of her filling showing through on her largely threadbare back. Her front is the same unfortunately, poor old girl !She is jointed five ways with good joint connections for her age. As mentioned ,she has had numerous repairs ( Mummy stitches) over her long years, especially to her ears, snout area and top of leg.All this being said, Beatrice is a classic old bear with bags of character and a long history.Despite her fairly shabby condition she holds herself together well… Like any old English ladyPlease study the photos carefully as they form part of the description.Beatrice is no longer suitable as a toy, she is a collectors item only.I post Monday – Friday as promptly as possible.
