Two sweet old friends made by Jungle Toys. They’ve both been very loved, and I’d like for them to move on to the same new home together – they both had the same original owner (not myself). My home is smoke free. Scroll down for more details.
Puppy Measures: 5.5 inches tall x 6″ long (from from front feet to tail tip)
Fox cub: 8 inches tall x 9″ long (from front feet to tail tip – when tail is outstretched and straight. His tail is more ‘floppy’ and poseable than the puppy’s tail)
About the repairs: They’ve been cuddled and squeezed tightly a lot! Perhaps they brought someone great comfort during war times. Because of this, both of their front legs are a bit wobbly and understuffed now! The fox cub has had some repair stitching done by myself – his ears were loose when I first bought them, so I just cross stitched them onto his head more securely with white repair thread (yes, I’m an ammateur!) The puppy looks as though someone before me had applied repair stitching to both his underside and to his tail, there’s some cross-stitched threads there in matching ‘buttermilk’ threads that are a bit hard to notice (please inspect photos).
Both of their eyes have been replaced. They were both eye-less when I bought them, and I just couldn’t leave them like that (although I never could find eyes which matched the old ones Jungle Toys used). I just put some mock-glass plastic one’s into puppy’s eye sockets, while I stitched some new blue glass eyes into the fox’s. The eyes I used for fox will be bigger than his original ones were (they were just the smallest blue glass eyes I was able to find at the time).
As you can see from the 10th photo, I have a Jungle Toys fox with his original glass eyes intact (he is not for sale). I thought it would be nice to show it to you them side by side, so that perhaps someone who is more experienced with repairs can use the comparison for reference. As you can see, Jungle Toys used smaller and very bright coloured glass eyes (they were all painted on the back, rather than having the glass be coloured while they were blown). As you can also see…the fox that is for sale in this listing has been very flattened! He is very thin and skinny by comparison, perhaps he and his puppy friend would appreciate new stuffing (they were stuffed with hay). But they also look very charming ‘as is’.
As you can see from the photos – they both have some balding/mohair loss. I also suspect they were more yellow in their youth, but they’re both more of a buttermilk colour now.
