Old Antique Vintage Tatty German Teddy BearWalter is a dear old vintage antique teddy bear who is about 15 inches tall, and 10 inches seated. He is a charming, tatty old bear with a kind face. I think he was made by the Hermann company and is an early bear, possibly dating back to the 1920s, but I cant be 100 percent sure about this. Either way, he is a delightful old bear, full of character ! He has amber and black glass eyes, and a hand stitched nose and mouth which may have been re stitched at some time during his life. His ears seem to have been slotted in to his head across the top of his facial seams. They do not have a different type of lining though , like most Hermanns would. Walter is straw filled throughout. Some of his filling has shifted a bit over time. He is fully jointed with fairly good joint connections for his age, though they are a little looser than they used to be and his head is floppy – but still well attached. Walter has a very sparse and patchy covering of dual mohair plush which is tipped with a cinnamon colour . This colouring has altered over the years with his back and back legs being more of a chocolate brown tip. He has age related marks especially on his muzzle, around his nose and mouth (probably from so many kisses). There are visible seams and stitch work and the top of his arm may have had some Mummy stitches at some point, all as may be expected from an old vintage chap.His paws are a peach coloured soft material and have obviously been recovered (rather crudely) by some kind soul. One of the paw pads has some small holes in it. All this being said, Walter holds himself together as best he can… so if you like your bears to be well loved , totally tatty and look all of their years – then maybe you can give Walter a new home. He is no longer suitable as a toy. He is a collectors item only. Please study the photos provided as they also form part of the description.I post Mon – Fri as promptly as is possible.
