Mr Hatley – SUPER RARE Harwin & Co Teddy Bear with hump 1900’s Old English Antique
Introducing Mr Hatley! He is a very special bear – I love him! He’s a very rare ted made by the English Company Harwin somewhere no later than early 1920’s. Harwin made lovely bears which had identifiable features such as weighty build, long curved arms, straight legs spaced wide apart, separately stitched on muzzle, and of course a hump! Harwin stopped making bears in 1930. You don’t see many Harwin bears now, as understandably they are rather old pensioners coming up to around 100 years old! Hatley stands around 19inches tall, is fully jointed and stuffed completely with woodwool. He feels lovely to hold as he really does have a good weight to him! At some point his right hand has been restored but they have done an excellent job! … and also his hand and feet pads have been replaced, but I think this could possibly be to tie in with the restored hand, rather than need for all to be recovered? (I haven’t removed to look). He still retains his original painted back glass eyes (love them!!!) and card lined feet (love them!). His hand and feet claws could likely be original as the colour tone ties in perfectly with his original facial stitching. Hatley does enjoy a stroll round the garden and a sit with his teddy friends on the shelf, but really .. what he’s longing for is a new special person who wants to be with him for more decades to come, so he can witness more shenanigans and be part of the family!
