Mr Ernest Mouseface: Super Rare Hecla Bear – Beautiful Little Old Antique American Teddy – 1907Ernest Mouseface is a very cute, American Hecla teddy bear. He dates to around 1907 and is extremely rare given that the company was only in existence for around two years – I’ve never even seen one before.He stands around 26cm tall, is fully jointed and stuffed with woodwool. All his pads are original felt and generally in excellent condition – just one small hole in his right hand.He has several key identifying original features:Burnt orange nose, mouth and claw stitching,Large, side-set earsSmall glass eyesA hunchback profileUpturned noseHecla also advertised their bears as being made from imported German mohair, and certainly the quality of his covering is lovely and soft. Mr Mouseface has lost some mohair over the years, but he’s not been fiddled with in any way and would make a wonderful addition to any collection.
