Very loved but lovely 1940’s Chad Valley brown alpaca plush teddy bear.
This 1940’s Chad Valley teddy bear stands at 13″ tall and is in very loved condition but with lots of charm and character. He is stuffed with kapok in his body, with a little wood wool around his joints and wood wool in his snout and he is five ways jointed, but his left leg has been sewn to his body. He is a very bald bear with only small tufts of his brown alpaca plush remaining
although there are no holes in his backing fabric and he is still a sturdy little bear. He is also wearing an old hand knitted jumper on which the blue wool has deteriorated and split so his jumper is holey just along the blue stripes and a tartan ribbon bow.
His cotton paw pads are original surface worn and in fair condition apart from small holes in the tips of his paws which could be darned. One of his eyes is original and the other is a different shade and looks to have been glued on but it suits him well enough. Although he no longer has his label, he is typical of Chad Valley bears from this era with a lovely expressive face and if you like
your bears to be loved, he would make a wonderful addition to any hug.
