This is an exceptionally fine example of an early 1950’s Chiltern Hugmee teddy bear. You will see that she is made from top quality golden mohair and luckily, she has managed to retain most of it – although there are some places of thinning and general wear.
Teddy still has her original glass eyes, but her nose/mouth and claws stitching will require some minor attention – as will the velvet card lined feet pads because kapok and the card lining is now exposed on the left foot and this is currently held in place with a big pin.
Generally, I consider her to be in lovely, but clearly not 100% perfect condition, so please take time to view all of the photographs as these will be the most helpful part of the item description/condition report, but please do read the written condition report too.
You will see in one image that ‘Whisper’ (as she is known here),is photographed with her little’sister’, another quite stunning, but smaller 1950’s Hugmee. This very lovely Chiltern teddy bear is available to bid for in a separate listing, so please do visit my other auctions.
