Friar Plum Old PURPLE Antique Chiltern Chad Valley? Teddy Bear restoration / TLC
This is Friar Plum. He’s a very old interesting bear needing some love from a clever person.
He stands around 14 inches tall, is fully jointed (except his neck which needs some repair). He’s fully stuffed with woodwool and really pretty weighty!
He has replacement eyes and his pads have been recovered (he has firm card lined feet). His nose has also been recovered and you can see his original nose stitching underneath which seems in pretty good shape.
As you can see, he’s been well loved … but also has been treasured as someone has really taken great care to try and patch him up! (I’ve taken quite a few photos to show his current manner). He’s also been given his own outfit a VERY long time ago, cleverly made out of a really old pair of knitted shorts and a very old tiny leather belt – cute.
His mohair is a plum shade which is really rare to come across. I’m not sure as to his make but he’s possibly the likes of an early Chiltern / Chad Valley dating to the 1920’s.
I feel he would make a very rewarding restoration project, and he has lots more love to give!
