Fabulous and unusual brown mohair Chad Valley teddy bear. Circa 1920’s.
Standing at 17″ tall this golden mohair teddy bear was made by Chad Valley circa 1920’s and heis in loved condition with some small damages but he is a lovely looking bear with an unusual brown colour mohair and a fabulous wide eyed happy expression and huge floppy ears. He doesn’t have any labels but he has a typical Chad Valley look from their experimental 1920’s period.
Ted has a fair coverage of his chocolate brown mohair with overall thinning and some bare areas on his tummy, back, head and arms as you can see from the photos and I would estimate he has retained approximately 50% coverage overall. Most of his original features are intact, but his painted back glass eyes are replacements, but they are antique and look as if they may have been taken from a Farnell bear from the same period and I think they suit him really well. His cotton silk pads are slightly worn on his paws and missing the carding on one of his feet which have stitched repairs on both feet and two thirds of his claw stitching still intact.
He really is a gorgeous and expressive looking bear with a lovely schlumpy posture and hopefullywill appeal to those of you who like their bears loved but with bundles of charm and character.
