How cute is this!! Here is a little antique Steiff cat (no button unfortunately) with the most amazing expression, with those bright yellow glass eyes with slit pupils.He is 6 way jointed,…. his head, legs and even the tail are all jointed. This allows him to be posed in different positions… He can stand, though his legs are a bit feeble with age,…he can also crouch, though he prefers to sit quietly these days. He likes nothing better than looking out the window, watching the world go by, or sometimes just admiring himself in the mirror. (Well, wouldn’t you if you looked this cute? !!)
He is made from a blonde mohair, which due to his age, (early 1900’s) unfortunately shows signs of wear and tear. There is quite a bit of mohair loss, especially to the tail, which also has a few stitches.His felt ears are tattered, and his front leg joints are a little loose, though he can stand unaided with a bit of gentle persuasion. The back legs are quite unique in that they are jointed together within the hips, not the usual way on the outside. This makes him look more realistic whilst in the sitting position. He measures approx 7 inches long x 6 to 6 inches high depending on whether he is standing or sitting. He is small enough to sit on your hand.He is wood wool filled throughout. Around his neck he has the remnants of an old ribbon, and a dented silver bell, which may have been added at a later date.This cat has surely been well loved.
