Cheeky Lucy | Vintage Arthur van Gelden Old Art Silk c1940’s Teddy Bear
Silly Lucy is a funny, playful old Teddy bear dating to the mid 1940’s made by Arthur van Gelden.
She measures around 24 inches tall, is heavily stuffed with woodwool and covered in two colours of art silk. I love her face, with her original painted metal tin eyes she looks like she’s watching you a being cheeky!
She’s been on many an adventure, likes doing cartwheels, and clearly was a firm favourite; her limbs are fully jointed but at some point Mummy has stitched her head in place! This doesn’t detract from the bear, and neither does it bother Lucy! She’s just sat patiently waiting for a new happy home after she was sadly left behind.
Cheeky Lucy has a loud confident squeaker in her tum, and likes to make her voice known. I think she would make a happy addition to the right home, and certainly make you smile.
She’s seen here sharing secrets with her bear-st friend Robin (now sold), and is now also hoping for a second chance at life.
