CHARMING LITTLE C1930 ANTIQUE BLACK MERRYTHOUGHT LAMB WITH ORIGINAL LABEL
This adorable and rather rare little antique black lamb still retains his makers label (stitched to the underside of his body). His early label dates him to sometime around 1930 or thereabouts. His label is complete intact with clearly visible lettering, which says:
MERRYTHOUGHT
HYGENIC TOYS
MADE IN ENGLAND
Please see close up photo which shows his makers label.He is a lovely chubby little character, measuring approximately 7 inches in height from floor to top of his head, 5½ inches in height from floor to top of his back, and 10½ inches in length from nose to tail.
He is made of black mohair which retains 95% coverage and is very clean, soft and unfaded.
He has a non functioning reed and bellows type baa-box (squeaker) located in his tummy and is stuffed entirely with wood wool. His stuffing is still firmly and evenly distributed. His legs are nice and firm and he still stands up perfectly well on his own, without needing any form of support . . . which is pretty good for a 90 year old lamb!He is extremely clean and has no musty, dusty or unpleasant odours of any sort.He has lovely large clear glass (stitched in) eyes with white painted backs, and retains his original red stitched nose and muzzle. He has mohair ears, which are set quite far back on either side of his head.
He is extremely sweet and has an adorable happy face with a slightly lopsided smile which is most endearing.
He displays beautifully and has a great deal of gentle charm.
He is wearing vintage blue silk neck ribbons and a vintage style brass bell.
