This is ‘Captain’, a lovely 19 inch bear which I think is a Farnell. He is made of a wool (?alpaca) plush which has faded from a beige colour to this off white .
He has very large clear glass eyes, and his original nose stitching with the upturned end stitches.
His head is straw filled and the rest is kapok. He has a front final seam.
There is considerable thinning of the wool plush, and there are patches where the original colour has faded , but this is covered by his lovely blue nautical coat with brass buttons. The coat does have a few small holes but only to be expected with an antique coat of this age.
His felt pads and claw stitches are in excellent clean condition, with no holes.
All his joints work well, and he has no sagging, so he can sit and display well.
No nasty odours and he comes from a non smoking home.
