This is a 1930’s antique Dutch teddy bear. He doesn’t have a makers label but has been identified as an Arthur van Gelden one by a professional bear restorer and dealer.He is in excellent condition for his age and measures 21″ to the tips of his ears. He needs a clean and some of the enamel on his right eye has worn away (see picture). Apart from this he is great for his age. He is also a bargain as these bears are rare in this country and if you look at the prices of the other ones for sale on e-bay from Holland, you’ll see he’s a bargain! He is hard stuffed with what feels like straw. This enables him to sit very nicely.
