Antique/vintage 17″ doll.
She is beautiful, refined, life-like and delicate , with blonde hair and a cloth body/bisque head & limbs
She has pale alabaster bisque shoulders and head, which are joined to her cloth body with 2 large stitches.
Her shoulder-length wavy blonde hair is parted in the middle, and tufted onto a flesh-coloured cap.
Her pale arms are cloth to the elbow – below the elbow is bisque.
Her pale fingers are long, graceful, slender in an elegant pose.
Her pale legs are from the cloth body to the knee – below the knee is bisque.
Her skin is pale alabaster coloured bisque
She has mid-brown high painted eyebrows – pale brown painted eyelashes
Her eyes are pale blue – delicate with big pupils
Her straight nose is perfect – with a cute well-defined pointed tip
She has flushed pale peachy pink painted cheeks
She has small pursed bow shaped crimson red painted lips
She has refined features, an alabaster pale oval face.
Her face is delicately flushed and innocent
Her full length dress has a brown/beige flower pattern mid-brown embroidered flower-lace sleeves ends.
Her dress has high neck – a mid-brown flower lace trimmed yolk – a small orange bow sitting at middle top bust.
Her dress sleeves have mid-brown 1″ ribbon hems with exquisite mid-brown embroidered 3/4″ flower lace.
Her long gathered dress has 2 x 2″ tiers at the bottom trimmed around the top with chocolate brown ribbon.
She has a 1/2″ chocolate brown long silky ribbon tied around her waist in a bow and trailing down front of dress.
She has sewn on cotton pantaloons with loose frill bottoms and fine cord ties.
Her white socks are painted and moulded on to above her ankles.
She is wearing shiny black bar painted/moulded on shoes with 2″ long soles
Her height is 17″
Her waist is 8″
The history of the doll-
She was found in a 1910 period house.
The house had belonged to an old lady who had lived there for 70 years, since her childhood.
Two years after she had died, I went to view the de-lapidated, uncleared house, with a view to a renovation project.
Inside the house, nothing had changed including the decor since the turn of the century.
As a builder was showing me around, I discovered the doll in an antique pram covered in cob webs under piles of rubble, and antique furniture.
The builder told me that there were no heirs for the old lady’s house.
And that all of the contents were destined for the tip.
I thought the doll was so beautiful.
I then made the builder a cash offer on the spot so I could rescue her, which, I am pleased to say, he accepted
The period doll is possibly of French, English or German origin and in very good clean condition without marks.
