I believe this fabulous 14″ x 17″ Steiff elephant on wheels dates to 1924 because his size of 43 cm (on blue painted wooden wheels) is referenced in the Steiff Sortiment for 1924, I could be wrong.
I consider the condition of this beautiful old Steiff toy to be good – with only minor and inevitable signs of wear, so he is virtually as he was when new, although I am not sure his old red felt saddle, seen in one photograph, is original. The beautiful beaded headress and ‘saddle’ were lovingly made for him by his pevious owner and are included in the sale.
