TWO CHARMING MINIATURE ANTIQUE PEKINGESE DOGS
These two charming little antique miniature Pekingese dogs have no makers labels, tags, buttons, etc., to identify them by, and I do not know who made them, or where they were made. They are definitely antique, of some age, and to the best of my knowledge the date from sometime between 1925 – 1940.They would be perfect to display in an antique dolls house, or with antique French fashion dolls, or antique teddy bears.They both have wooden frame bodies, covered in fur of some type. Their legs are made from Bakelite as far as I can ascertain. Their heads are made from cloth moulded over kapok and they both have original black glass eyes, original little black stitched noses, and original tiny little red felt tongues. Both dogs are able to move their legs, as they are jointed to their bodies – I do not know exactly how they are jointed, as they are so small and fluffy its impossible to see the tops of their legs!. They are in very good clean condition with no age related flaws or faults, and neither dog has any musty or unpleasant odours of any sort.They are both wearing identical antique blue silk neck ribbons, and tiny silver bells.
They both fit snugly into their little antique dog basket (shown in listing photos) made of green and cream wicker with a wooden base, it dates from circa 1930 and is in very good clean condition. The little dogs have ‘lived’ in their dog basket for many years and so the basket is included in the sale, and the little dogs will travel to their new home in it.The white, black and tan dog is the largest of the two, measuring 3 inches in length from nose to tail, and 2¼ inches in height from his front paws to top of his head (highest point), his height from front paws to top of his back is 1¾ inches.
