Absolutely gorgeous 1920’s STEIFF teddy bear, 19 inches tall when lying flat head to bottom of his feet.
Original good condition brown glass eyes, luxurious mohair in the traditional golden colour.
Original mouth nose and claws throughout.
Great looking side profile to this bear with long muzzle, long arms and big feet….these Steiff bears made between the World Wars have always been a favourite of ours!…
Much of the nose stitching has missing but the original felt backing over which the nose stitching was originally sewn over is still present.
A ” one-looker” with a gorgeous face, he really looks alive !
Most of the mohair from tummy now missing, good mohair coverage on rear surfaces.
Repairs in felt to feet and paw pads.
Small hole to left side of head.
Steiff button missing in the ear…..many of these were removed by concerned parents at the time to prevent injury to a child playing with the bear.
Front seam looks like the original one sewn in the Steiff factory and looks undisturbed.
A classic Steiff bear circa 1920-1925.
Very rare to find nowadays.
This bear was once an exhibit at the Teddy Bear Museum in Bromyard Herefordshire from 1997 to about 2010…this Museum was run by myself and we had many Steiff ,Bing, Farnell, Chads etc…in fact HUNDREDS of bears some of which are illustrated in the Teddy Bear Encyclopaedia.

Some wood wool stuffing has shifted in the arms and legs as might be expected.
Largely unrestored teddy, just the paw and feet pads restored 20 years ago.
Comes with a maroon and grey jumper with a suffragette medal ( copy)awarded to Mrs Pankhurst after she was detained at Holloway Prison in 1908 which he wears proudly for all to see.
He sits with one foot up the other lying down which is typical
