‘WARREN’ – A WONDERFULLY ANCIENT LOOKING LARGE 28″ ANTIQUE (ONCE) PINK GERMAN RABBIT CIRCA 1930
‘Warren’ is an extremely large rabbit of German origin who dates from around 1930 or thereabouts. He has no makers labels to identify him, and I do not know which company made him, and Warren has forgotten who made him!
He measures approximately 28 inches in height and is four way rod jointed. His leg joints are rather loose (the result of 90 years of enthusiastic burrowing . . . but he can still sit up on his own without needing any form of support.
He is made of (I think) art silk, and in his younger days (many years ago) was a beautiful vibrant shade of pink, but time (and burrowing) has taken its toll and he is now a not unattractive pinkish-brown colour . . . as can be seen from his photos parts of him are more pinkish than brown . . . and vice versa. He is guaranteed to be clean and free from musty or dusty odours.
He has large ears which can be posed in various positions as they have original wire armatures. His white tail is a little torn but complete and still firmly attached to him! He is not perfect, as can be seen . . . he is an elderly rabbit with age related wear and tear, and while he is not yet completely ‘over the hill’ he is ‘approaching the summit’!
The backs of his legs are somewhat worn, the back of his right leg is bald (but still pink!) and his lower leg and heel area have been patched (not recently) and both legs have the odd closed split in the cloth . . . caused by burrowing, playwear, and age!His large feet both retain their original card inserts, and he has original (stitched in) brown glass eyes, original black stitched nose and muzzle and original white whiskers.
He is despite his faults, basically sound, and is a very endearing and lovable old rabbit with a great deal of charm.
Please take the time to look carefully at the listing photos before bidding, as they show his condition accurately and clearly, and form an important part of the description.
His antique pink silk ribbon and large vintage brass and filigree bell are not original to him.
His handmade carrot was made for him by me, and is included in the sale! PLEASE NOTE: THE LARGE FLUFFY WHITE RABBIT (WARREN’S FRIEND) SHOWN IN THE LAST PHOTO IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE SALE, & IS USED FOR DISPLAY PURPOSES ONLY.
