In original untouched good/fair condition for age. From a late relatives estate clearance.
Originally named by my grandmother, this is Otto Bear.
Otto Bear is an original, old / vintage, large, golden, former shop / window display bear from a former old toy and clothes store in Germany. He is hard / straw-filled (scrunchy when pressed), he is fully jointed (hard discs) and has lovely big bright eyes, a black stitched nose, mouth and claws, fabric paw pads and fabric covered, hard flat (wooden?) feet. Otto is approximately 3ft tall (approximately 92 cms). He is a heavy, sturdy old bear and probably quite a rarity. He is feeling a bit sad and needs a new loving home.
Lovely Otto Bear is another interesting item from my late grandmother’s estate clearance. I am informed by my father that Otto was originally used many years ago in the shop window display at an old toy and children’s clothes shop that my grandmother worked at in her youth near Coburg in the Bavarian area of Germany. When the shop closed down the remaining ship items were dispersed and my grandmother acquired Otto Bear and another couple of vintage / old shop display items and toys (which we will also be listing here on ebay shortly).
Otto Bear has been safely stored away for many years in a box in a loft so is in good, clean, condition for his age. He has some marks to the base of his flat feet where he has been used as a display model and a small repair to his left ear. Tiny bit of wear to the back of his head (please see photos). Some age related marks / wear but generally good. He is wearing a vintage, green, handmade, smart, embroidered neck tie.
Circa 1930’s / 1940’s era.
We assume Otto Bear is German due to his Germany based history, but we cannot be sure where he was actually made or what make of bear he actually is.
Collection in person is not available for this item. Otto Bear will be shipped well packed with fully tracked shipping information. Due to his size and weight we can only post to UK and Europe destinations.
