The item:
A really fine example of a vintage kangaroo-pelt koala who can be reliably dated to the 1940s-50s due to his kapok and wood wool stuffing. He is in the solid ‘starfish’ style popular for the time so that he sits on his bottom unaided. He is a large koala who would have been a top shelf item when he was originally sold. It is very unusual to find the kangaroo pelt in such good condition as the lesser quality koalas were made of poorly-tanned pelts which have not stood the test of time. The fine condition of this koala’s pelt is another factor suggestive of his having started out well in life and he is now looking for a special home.
