Vintage Merrythought Pushalong Donkey. 1950’s?
I have no idea of age of this donkey, but my instinct tells me he is probably 1950’s, but could be earlier, he’s just always been around.
This donkey has been in my family for years, and sadly no longer played with, grandchildren now too old.
I am no expert, this donkey is a toy which my sisters and myself had great fun with over many years.
Made from Mohair and I assume stuffed with wood chips, his stuffing has split on his head, and is in a bit of a sorry state.
The frame is sturdy as are the wheels and the donkey stands firmly.
As you can see he has been well played with, he is rather threadbare in places, please see photos as these form part of the description.
His leather bridle is broken, ears are floppy. Despite his many faults, and he does have them, he could be a great addition for a collector
I think this could be a lovely restoration project, or keep him in all his vintage glory, used as a theatre/film prop etc.
